Palin is campaigning for what?

It's more likely that your local station was showing b-roll, generic footage to show a political rally.

Not likely, she was in the hanger on the news.

Here's video footage that supports the blogger's claim though. http://bravenewfilms.org/blog/60709-sara...lk-city-fl

The news footage showed a different angle than that clip so who knows. Regardless, the guy should have gotten a quote to confirm his story, it's good reporting.

I don't understand, sorry. How would a quote confirm the story? I would think his own observation, not to mention the photographs and video, would be plenty.

Just because the guy's a reporter doesn't automatically mean he's a liar.

At any rate, it would seem that she's being allowed to subtly distance herself from McCain. It's as if the republican party is reserving future rights and doesn't want her future compromised by this campaign. If I were McCain I'd be highly ticked off at Palin and the RNC. They are really showing that they're not fully in this campaign.

I didn't say he was a liar. But in his story he gives no evidence, other than his word.

He said the campaign only handed out 2 types of signs, you'd think he'd have someone from the campaign verify that because he really has no way of knowing. Aren't good reporters supposed to try and get validation?

If it is true that signs with "McCain" on them weren't handed out (and it does appear that way) that's pretty amazing. Maybe it was more of a Putnam rally, I don't know. Weird.

I am a good reporter but I doubt I would be able to get anyone from the RNC or the Putnam campaign to say "Yes, we were snubbing McCain" or
"We did not hand out any McCain signs" because the automatic folo is "Why not?" and then you are back to "We were snubbing McCain."

The reporter saw no McCain signs in the crowd. He was looking for McCain signs in the crowd. He walked around the rally looking for McCain signs in the crowd. He saw none. Therefore there were no McCain signs handed out at the rally. It's pretty simple really. The assumption that any reporter hands out BS is ridiculous. Reporters whose information is faulty do not last long in the business.

Oh please. If you ask if they're snubbing McCain of course you'd get a shitty answer. It's all how you ask the question, you should know that. All he had to do is ask what type of signs were handed out and he would have had a quote to verify his story. Not that difficult.

There were McCain signs in the crowd, he even said that. Somehow he knew that the people that had McCain signs brought their own. How did he know that? Apparently he didn't ask anyone. Is he psychic? If he is he should say so in his story, that would be interesting.

Who really gives a rat's ass what type of signs they handed out anyway? Their campaign is dead in the water. This is a non-story to begin with, and his lack of reporting skills made it even less of one.

The McCain signs were hand-lettered. That's how he knew that the visitors to the rally brought them themselves. Whenever I see hand-lettered campaign signs, though, I check the colors and handwriting. If it's all the same it's the campaign trying to make it look as if it has grassroots support. Similarly if all the hand-lettered signs are the same size they likely come from the campaign. It's an old trick.
