A new Aldi store opened across from our SuperTarget and, since I have a Grand Opening coupon, I was going to check them out. I know you need to bring your own shopping bag, or buy one of theirs, and that you have to pay 25ยข to get a cart and then that is returned when you return the cart, but other than that, what should I know before I go?
The main thing that is putting me off about the store is that they apparently don't take credit cards. I pay for everything with a CC and don't really carry much cash, ever. They take debit cards, which I don't use, and they don't take checks, so if I want to shop there I will have to make a special effort to have cash, I guess.
I had to pay a 500 lira deposit to get a shopping cart at supermarkets in Italy in the late 80's. That was a lot more than a quarter. I wish ALL supermarkets would implement this.
People who steal and/or abandon their shopping carts in the middle of parking lots ... :villagers:
