Exactly. If I don't know or have no opinion, I keep my trap shut. If I do know and take the time to offer advice and said advice is ignored, then I reserve the right to say "I told you so" as needed. On the flip side, when I am proven wrong I freely admit that I was wrong.

It would be better to let the other person come to their own realization that you told them so, but you could die of old age waiting for them to come to that realization on their own.
