Here in Cleveland the local 'Saturday afternoon kid's movie' program on TV used to have bits they called "A typical Ethnic Joke"... little skits that involved a prototypical Eastern European elderly man and his adventures in dealing with modern live. It was a hoot, and since the makeup of Cleveland neighborhoods has been very '-ian' for most of the last century, it went over very well.
