Paver stone cement. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off?

I vote for cbelt's solution. They make ones that are more like a lawn mower that might be easier than a hand held one. You'd rent it for less than 50.00, and be done in 10-15 minutes. I do wonder though whether the pavers would sit still? I've used a tile cutter for exactly what you're doing, and it's kind of a tedious task, but not too tough. The chisel's gonna piss you off. kj.
