Finally happened: got burned by Amazon's "no post-order price match"

So, you called them, right? Was it a hassle to get through?

I emailed them explaining the situation briefly and asked how we can "make things right" but didn't mention the item (a camera) and they don't know the buyer (my dad, so different Amazon username).

If they inquire some more I can proceed that way and hand over the info to my dad. If they return a standard "no" email I'll just have my dad call them and see what happens.

Since I'd recommended to my dad both the camera and the seller (Amazon.com, although I *think* it was fulfilled by a 3rd party vendor, which might complicate things?) --- I'd like to get my ducks in a row before letting him know he overpaid.
