Proposed Florida bill bans use of food stamps for sweets/snack foods

It's also incredibly insulting to tell families who are geniuses at stretching family food dollars in ways most of us couldn't pull off, including the governor and legislators of Florida, that you are going to make strict shopping lists for them all because a few people have made some poor choices. Absurd.

You mean like WIC does ?

Dollar stretchers aren't always nutrition experts and if it were up to the Nutrition Nazi in the White house you wouldn't even have french fries, let alone junk food that turns our youth into blind cripples.
Maybe we should put booze and cigarettes back on the list because we all know geniuses at stretching food dollars would never buy them with food stamps even if they could.
WIC and food stamps are separate programs with different goals. Families can be on both programs at the same time. WIC is to help reduce premature and low weight births by making sure pregnant women get enough protein and basic nutrition. It is not designed to meet the needs of an entire family. Food stamps can be used for nearly all grocery items.
Do you ever volunteer at a food bank bill? If you do you'd have more trust and respect of people who receive public assistance to make food purchases.
Our state's farmer's markets have also come up with innovative ways to accept public assistance dollars so that their fresh foods are included too.
