Beginning with iTunes 11, imported personal video files are automatically tagged or retagged as Home Videos. If you've got the left sidebar showing, Home Videos appear as a tab across the top within the Movies category.
This is because everyone's favorite company to hate now assumes that if you didn't buy content from them you created it yourself, and didn't get that video from YouTube (because "who would know how to do that!" ) and because ripping one of your DVDs isn't necessary when you can just buy the movie from iTunes.
Worse case, you import something and can't find it, and searching doesn't work because your file had a goofy filename etc., look at the Recently Added smart playlist.
Do a Get Info on the file from within iTunes. This will allow you to edit metadata. Because Music Video is one of the main choices (Options tab!) you probably want to go with that one for each, and add appropriate Artist and other things. Run through each of the tabs (Summary, Info, Video, Sorting, Options, Lyrics, Artwork). Verify how the files appear in the iTunes browser and re-edit as necessary. You can copy/paste into those Get info fields.
