Mail stopped working after upgrading to Yosemite. I tried various troubleshooting techniques (thanks to those who offered suggestions) but nothing worked. Today, I messed around with it some more and finally disconnected it from the cloud. That worked! It was scary with the five or six warnings that came up telling me that things were going to be deleted from my Mac, but I forged ahead anyway and...it's working now! Yayyy.
