First thing is to turn off the breaker.
Second thing is to look in the instructions for the motion sensor to see what the minimum box size is, then measure the existing box to see if it is big enough. If it's big enough then it's a very simple matter to pull the old switch and wire it up according to the motion sensor instructions. If the box is too small it can sometimes be a bear to change them out.
One possible issue is that your old switch appears to be mounted in some kind of box within the regular junction box. I'm not sure how that works or how its secured...perhaps those screws on the bottom right and top left corners.
