Looking at a package of unsweetened coconut that I pulled out of my kitchen cabinet, I notice that it says that it has a lot of saturated fat. But I already knew that. I bought this from an online source because it's hard to find unsweetened coconut in a grocery store. I buy unsweetened coconut because I find that I get a deeper coconut flavor from unsweetened coconut than the sweetened stuff in the grocery store, not out of some nutritional reason. Reflecting on this, I don't think that I ever read nutritional labels on products that I buy in the grocery store. I think this is mostly because I seldom buy processed foods. However, for those of you that do buy heavily processed foods, do you read nutritional labels, and why? I mean if you're buying heavily processed foods, it stands to reason that you're buying them for convenience, not for their "superior" nutritional content.
