exactly,
those are animals (well at least deer) that benefit from some thinning of the herd since we've eliminated their natural predators and much of their habitat. And of course you can eat those, is anybody going to eat this rhino meat?
I heard about this auction earlier and it's just sickening, I agree that "perverse and a sad joke" are a good terms to describe it.
Sure use hunting fees to conserve wildlife, but only hunt species that are presently at least sustainable.
