I like using CleanMyMac2 (which I avoided for years) in uninstalling apps (and their various cronies) as well as general cleanup (like removing gigs worth of iOS updates I didn't realize were on my drive). It's one of those "tread carefully" apps, and I *never* just click "Clean", instead going point-by-point and deciding case-by-case.
For duplicate searches, I've used Gemini without issue -- again, though, treading lightly. There are probably better apps.
For archival stuff -- things I just want to have away -- I have a NewerTech external RAID as an attic for archiving apps, former client folders, milk-crating albums I don't want in iTunes anymore, etc.
