It would be crazy if the page was that heavy. But it's streaming video, and no one ever goes to YouTube, plays a video and says OMG that was a 50MB page visit!
We live in an age when streaming is ever-more the norm, is my point.
FWIW when I just went there it played a (different) 3.4MB MP4 video, https://www.paypalobjects.com/webstatic/...nvoice.mp4
I then turned off WiFi on my iPhone, visited the site and only a splash screen showed, no video played. Truly egregious is that there, on the home page, Safari Mobile's navigation was disabled. I had to click a link to another page on the site to bring it back. I've only had that happen a couple times before with Safari Mobile but it's annoying, and would be a complete browser dead-end for a novice not to know how to get around.
As to your question, I was going to guess it's made with Javascript and HTML5 video-embed?
