How does adding a remote work? Without wiring one in?
HDMI could work if you have an HDMI switch box and then a box to break out sound to the receiver (video would then input back into the TV). Those old receivers can't do modern surround sound, have no video inputs, and no remote. That's why I moved on, well, mostly the lack of a remote.
