No, that’s not quite what they’re asking. They want Apple to create a hackable version of iOS and install it on the phone. As it is right now, you can’t update iOS on non-jailbroken device unless the device is 100% sure the update is coming from Apple. The hackable iOS wouldn’t erase the phone after ten failed passcode attempts. That back door would make it child’s play to get the device unlocked, because there are gadgets that will run through passcodes from 000000 to 999999 until it hits the winning combination.
