Steve,
It's less a question of waiting for a Black Friday deal and more a question, of how much will you save, is the savings worth the wait and do you need the drive now? I can't see a huge savings unless you luck upon a super deal. Even then, it may not be for this particular drive. It may be for a different model or one from a different brand entirely. In most cases, the brand isn't going to matter much. It's an SSD and for the vast majority of people, any SSD is going to make a huge difference in a machine, especially if said SSD is replacing a platter drive.
That said, I like Samsung drives but wouldn't hesitate to look at !TB models from other brands. OWC, SanDisk, Mushkin (Newegg has a 1TB for $259 right now), Crucial, etc. All good brands. I doubt you'll go wrong with a good drive from any of them. I actually own drives from each and haven't had an issue at all with them.
Some brands I won't consider. PNY is one of them. Might be a fine drive manufacturer but not a fan of how they handle tech support and product replacement under warranty. Others seem like no-name brands to me, i.e. Silicon Power.
If you need the drive, pick one from one of the better brands and buy it. If the purchase isn't time sensitive, wait and see what kind of deals are around. Worst case, you pay about the same price that you'd pay right now. Nothing lost.
