ATT DOES own DirecTV, and also offer uVerse TV where fiber is available. The Best thing about DirecTV was NFL Sunday Ticket! I rarely had weather related issues.

uVerse has a different channel lineup, but roughly comparable to local Cable. I do wish Apple would just buy DirecTV for the Programming (especially the NFL Ticket), then spin off (get it Confusedmiley-music039Smilethe Satellite business
