It's been said that we spend the first two years of a child's life telling them "yes," and the rest of their lives telling them "no."
This is the failure of law school. They teach how to dissect any argument or question with a rabbit's hole of meaningless explanation, but do not ever compel students to answer simple questions directly, even if allowed to add context later.
