I'm not sure if there is the bandwidth to run a monitor through a USB hub. BTW-The M1 supports the new USB 4.
You will need a good dongle or a Dock. OWC has an assortment, as does Apple and Amazon.
If you need both ports-you will need a dock/dongle that supports power pass through. The M1 MBP power adapter is 61 Watts,
