The confederate flag in the Capitol

There were many more than that one confederate flag at the event, though not all of them were the "stars and bars".

Were any of them the "stars and bars"? The flag everyone waves around is based on the battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia, and even then is not exact as that one was square. It is not the "stars and bars" flag of the CSA, and only ever was a battle flag. The later non-"stars and bars" flags of the CSA incorporated it as a canton, not the full flag.

Good illustrations of the various "real" confederate flags are part of this Wikipedia article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_t...of_America.
