If AG Garland has shown anything so far is that he takes his time on whether or not to indict people. A final decision could easily take him into the time frame for the 2024 presidential campaign to be getting heated up (mid to late 2023). In a perverse way that could be in the Democrat's favor because Trump's strongest position against an indictment would be to be an active candidate for the 2024 nomination. I think Trump's hold on the party is continuing to slip and DeSantis badly wants to push him out of the way, but double down Don will be desperate to maintain his viability as a candidate as a counter to a potential indictment by the DOJ. I could see him even threatening a third party go to keep his viability alive.
That's pretty speculative, but the GOP is looking at a potential nasty split in the party going into the 2024 campaign season and the prospect of a DOJ indictment could possibly help make it even nastier.
