Stopping for an hr to recharge would really slow things down, adding hours of travel time. So for this trip, gas it is.
Get an EV with faster charging.
Mine takes 20 minutes to go from 10% to 80%.
IN what? My Tesla takes close to an hour to go from 20 to 80%, and ONLY that fast as Tesla Superchargers. Most other chargers take 2-3x as long or more. I always charge at home, 240v so it takes 8-10 hrs but I plug in over night.
There's no shame in using an ICE when it still makes sense. Any road trips, and we would rent a ICE car.
We just came back from a 3500 mile trip in our Volt. There were four hotels we stayed at that had 110v outlets for car tank heaters which we could have used had I not been too lazy to unload our gear to dig out our EVSE cable. (Yes, we went north and west.)
I don’t know why Toyota is so against EVs but they have been all along. Might well be that pdq is right about hydrogen.
