So we can agree that guns can and should be regulated, as are other potentially dangerous things. The question then becomes to what degree should something should be regulated. Yet even the slightest increase in regulation of guns of any kind is met with extreme prejudice.
Also, unfair comparison between hammers and AR-15s. You need to categorize the hammer you just did the gun. Ball-peen? Claw? Framing? Tack? They are all very different, as I am sure any proper hammer aficionado would know, and would insist on explaining the differences ad infinitum every time the subject of hammer bans came up in every forum on the planet.
