speaking of "negotiating".
some years ago I was without HI and ended up in the ER for something minor.
The bill was insane. But I was "allowed" to pay the HI "negotiated" bill instead of the "real" bill. The difference was insane.
And today, when I see my EoBs from what was billed and what was "negotiated". Insane.
It's nice that the big hospital systems can negotiate.
When my spouse was still in practice as a PT, Oxford sent her a note one day, no warning, they had "negotiated" her visit fee to $50.
With that she had to pay the therapist, a PTA, rent, lights, bookkeeper, acct, blah, blah, blah. She closed because all the hospital systems nearby, were opening their own PT clinics and pay new grads bupkis.
"negotiated" to closing. We see it in all the local private pracs the last ten years.
