Do cells shrink or disappear when losing weight?
#10
A little off-topic, but there are different types of fat too.  Not all are bad.  Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) is a type of fat that the body burns to maintain body temperature in cold conditions.  Babies have abundant BAT, but as we age it seems to diminish.  Some research suggests that it diminishes because humans lead more comfortable lives now, never deviating much from 70°.  If you do cold therapy, like ice baths, cold showers, polar swims, etc you will develop more BAT, which ironically helps to get rid of the other type of fat.  The BAT helps to convert fat into heat.
