Yikes!

I agree with Dennis R;
STOP using the Powerbook IMMEDIATELY...
Boot it ONLY to Target Disk, and work with it that way.
Try Data Rescue.

Can't hurt at this point.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go burn a backup DVD-R...
