no, never ever, not once in the history of the internet, has anyone ever taken a, say, .avi file, and zipped it, and posted it? Never ever happened with a .rar file either? We must be communicating across the bounds of space from another dimension, because where I come from, that happens tens of millions of times a day.
It is the single most commonly used way of getting id10ts to infect their own machines, btw, by telling you "Oh, this is a cool video, just uncompress and click on it", and inside the .rar file is a nasty virus.
In case you are ignorant, a .rar or .zip file uses a compression scheme, and puts the file in a new "wrapper". and that wrapper is named xxx.zip or xxx.rar.
Just because you are at a backyard BBQ and someone hands you a hamburger bun, don't assume it has ground meat in it baceuse he said so. Some sneaky bastige could still have stuck a flattened peach in it.
If you are on a mac, try RAR Expander. It does a far better job, and returns far less errors, and damages far less files than Stuffit Expander.
