[quote SteveJobs]ArtP: but Apple also had a $699 iMac back then, too. Well, during some of that time. Today's cheapest iMac is $999. Mac mini + Apple LCD is very pricey.
I thought the $699 iMacs were a great deal. Still have one used everyday. I bought three imacs back then. Then an eMac, and now a new G5 iMac.
If I remember right Apple never made a $699 iMac that I can remember as an initial release REGULAR price unless it came after the Airport based Macs. Maybe yours was discounted by the retailer or Edu pricing?
The cheapest one I remember was around $799 or so around the Rip, Mix Burn era. It was a low end without a CD burner.
Let me check everymac.com, I could be wrong.
EDIT: Cheapest one I found was the Indigo 350 @ $799.00
Introduction Date: July 19, 2000 Discontinued Date: February 22, 2001
Original Price: $799 US
What model is your?
