Can the new 24" iMac match the new Mac Pro in High-Res Gaming?
#10
I have loaded Medal of Honor: Spearhead at the apple stores. They say the don't care since every Mac is reimaged nightly, so it will be wiped that night.

[quote RAMd®d]...unless you qualify the stats.

Out of the box, the answer may be yes, but there will always be better video cards.

I'll check the link to see if it answers my question- does the 256MB card give respectable gaming performance, whether or not compared to other computer?

F'rinstance, I've got Close Combat: First to Fight, based on a preview at MWSF a few years ago.

It was demoed on G5s with some high end ATi card, don't remember which. Played fast, smooth, and gorgeous. Detail, shading, reflections, glints-- all stunning.

Playing it on my 1.25MHz/1.5G MDD with an ATi 9600, not so much (obviously). It didn't look any better than an old Tomb Raider game on my Cube. Played smooth, though.

If I could find a 24"/256MB iMac at an Apple Store, I'd be tempted to ask them if I could load the game to check it out.
