Funky folders . . .
#1
I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation-

10.4.9 Macbook Pro

Have folder on desktop, with a number of folders inside. One of the inside folders turned into a no-name document. When I clicked on it to open, I got a "can't find application to open this" message.

Looked all over for a replacement of the folder and contents from backup, only to discover that if I renamed the no-name document, it reappeared as the real folder with all the contents!

Why would it have changed in the first place?
Why would renaming make a difference?

I'm sure this is a basic issue that's come up before, just my first time.

Thanks!
