Mac Pro Update - Penryn arrives
#19
[quote kj4btkljv]The Mac Pros are still too expensive. Those should be down around $1700 - $1900, not 1K more than that. Why are there no more C2D or Xenon options to bring the price down?

I would bet that most of the Mac Pros are going to be running Apple's Pro apps anyway, so by the time I add in Final Cut Pro Studio, Logic Studio, Aperture, and Shake, with a $2800 Mac Pro, I'm right around $5400. That's a cool $5400 right into Apple's pocket, meaning it's all Apple product. I know that's been the entry point for a while, but it's pretty steep for me. That price doesn't even include Adobe CS3...

Blu-Ray should be an option, I didn't config. one, so I don't know if Apple offers it as a BTO.

Jeff There's a quad core option for $2299. Apple just wants apparently everyone in this thread to pay $2800 instead of reconfiguring down to $2300.
