Back on track, I'd guess fraud. I've never seen a reference to an "Apple Loss Prevention" department, let alone one mentioning it working externally.
This stinks. I wonder if this is an isolated incident or the beginning of something.
One of the basic rules is -- never clink on the link provided, use one you've looked up. (This doesn't work in the case of DNS hijacking, apparently.)
