[quote BigGuynRusty][quote pinkoos][quote Lux Interior]Did they give you a new or a refurb?
I just can't stand the thought of using a refurbed hard drive.
Their return materials state that it will be refurbished. I haven't had a chance to take it out of it's electrostatic bag yet...just was able to see the label through the bag stating that it was 750GB. Using Refurbed HDD's is like eating "Used Food".

But what's the alternative in this situation? There is a 5 year warranty and they clearly state that the replacement is going to be a refurb. I guess I could've opted out of filing a warranty claim and just go out and spend another $100 bucks on a brand new drive.
Incidentally, I've been using a refurb 160GB Lacie D2 external (with a Maxtor inside) for a couple of years and it's never had a problem.
I guess it's just luck of the draw with hard drives.
