And Paul --- the "Hawaii volcanoes" are the only ones he mentions. I try to tell him of others, and about the concept of dormant volcanoes vs. active ones but all I hear is, "well, you know, volcanoes are in Hawaii and you don't want to get the hot lava on you ...

I never made one as a kid but I wonder if one of those volcano science projects , juiced by a battery and flowing "lava" etc. would be something he and I could do.
