[quote dan steinberg]This good sale on the Canon brings up a question maybe someone can answer. Does anyone think this Canon that's on sale would be a nice upgrade from a Panasonic DMC-TZ3?
Right now I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ3 that I bought about a year ago. I love everything about it (size and ergonomics, features, the big zoom) EXCEPT the actual picture quality.
It has 2 main problems, low lights shots come out incredibly noisy, and even shots in normal light, with the noise reduction and algorithm the camera uses, every picture just has a certain "look" to it that is not floating my boat. I actually like the shots better from my old 2 megapixel digital elph (but don't like its smaller zoom and cubelike ergonomics).
I would jump on this if anyone in the know thought the Canon had a lot of the good aspects of my Panasonic without the picture quality issues. I know they're different leagues of camera, and the Canon probably has a lot more manual controls.
Thanks!
Man...I feel your pain. When I was fed up with carrying my D100 around, I decided to get a nice point and shoot. Got the Panny FZ7. On paper it's got everything. I liked the camera and the Leica lens...it just took crappy pictures. AND YEAH...I had 2 megapixel shots from a Canon A60 that rocked....
Guess what I have lurking on Ebay for...yep...G9.
I heard it's as good a P&S as you will find....so good luck...
