Circus City has Canon G9 for $439

[quote dan steinberg][quote pRICE cUBE]The size of chips in consumer cams will never look as good as what you would get wit a DSLR. Of course, the manufacturers don't mind, they want you to buy a DSLR.
Yeah, that's the impression I started to get too, when I read some reviews of the G9, they were not crazy about its quality at higher ISO settings either.

I have no problem spending the money on a DSLR but I fear that their bigger size will result in me actually carrying it around a lot less than my current Panasonic. Des anyone make a camera with a nice big sensor, that's actually closer to point and shoot size than DSLR body size? Or is that the classic compromise?

This is crazy how all point and shoots have become all about megapixel counts, and not what the actual shots come out like, at least at higher .iso speeds.

Thanks!

This is as close as it gets and you have to fork out $700 and the lens is a 28mm equivalent. by the time you add wide or tele adapters, if you can I am not sure, it gets to be bulky like a DSLR again. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Si...ma_dp1.asp
