Even more interesting is that Noonan then went on to write a column that waffled her real thoughts into something like "she'll either be great or awful" as a nominee. A column that clearly did not reflect what she actually thought.
Those predisposed to think her column actually reflects her thoughts are likely to read her with a more jaundiced eye in the future.
Like her or hate her, it's hard to imagine Maureen Dowd not saying what she really thinks. The difference between a writer and a political hack I suppose.
