Some cable TV show determined that the cat is the most prolific killer of any animal in the world, killing more species of living things than even humans.
Sounds like narrowly defined hype for effect. Humans are far more destructive and harm a much broader range of living things.
Cats are efficient predators, certainly. I don't believe in allowing domestic pet cats to roam outdoors for that reason as well as the obvious ones related to the pet's length of life.
