I think it's kind of ironic that the standard bearer of the Republican party during what seems to be its last gasp is John McCain, a man who -- just four years ago -- was rumored to have been strongly considered to be on the short list for the Dems' VP pick, and a gentleman who has never been shy about harshly criticizing the very factions and tactics of his party which now appear to be bringing them down.
I dare say, the McCain of 2000 and 2004 might have been tempted to endorse Obama, if he weren't the McCain of 2008.
