Last hurricane we lost land phones for 40 days. But to be fair, cable was out for 30 days and not so reliable for a few weeks after that. I'm just glad power was out for less then an hour. Cell phones worked for 2-3 days, then all went down for a few days, then were back up. OUr local cable co offers phones service, but the phone interface does come with a battery back up and uses a different signal then cable TV or internet, or at least I was told that the phone will work even if cable and internet are down in most cases
