Adobe laying off 600, citing weak demand for CS4 suites

I've been away from supporting graphic designers on Adobe CS for a few years now, but even back in the CS2 days the registration scheme seemed overly burdensome relative to the likelihood of piracy. And the lack of compelling feature upgrades... It would be interesting to me to call around to former clients and see which ones were still using CS2. Then again, CS3 had native intel support, so that alone was probably a compelling enough upgrade.

Still, there was a time when I thought about purchasing Adobe CS myself because I knew how useful its tools could be. Not anymore - since I don't really have serious graphic design needs I'll make due with the Gimp, GraphicConverter, et cetera.
