Mostly because crucial (made by micron) is one of the biggest employers here, but the one you found on ebay is enough cheaper that I might not be able to resist. Cripes, is it worth a few bucks to support the locals? kj.
Actually, most of the memory (well, a little more than half) that I bought from crucial recently was NOT mircon and was not made in the USA.
Is micron still making memory boards in the US?
I think so, but not for long. They've little by little (lot by lot) been cutting all the manufacturing here, but are hoping to retain the engineers, etc., from what I understand. But I think there are still people doing manufacturing here. Most of the people I know who still work there are engineers. At any rate, they still employ a lot of people here, either way. I think crucial is just micron's brand name for memory. I do remember them announcing they would be moving some manufacturing out of the country a while back. I think people knew that meant all, eventually. kj.
