Swampy, that scenario already exists, but you are confusing the government with the insurance companies (all "for profit", tho some play the game saying they are non profit, but aren't). Your argument has no basis in reality. It is simply more fear-mongering. The insurance companies constantly deny services and payments in an effort to stall, hoping the uninformed will accept their denial and not fight. I waste loads of time every day fighting these denials for medications or tests needed, and have for the past more than 20 years. And the scary scenario described above of Canadian healthcare IS already here in the US, and has been for some time. My patients usually will be assigned a hallway ER site as an inpatient bed, rather than be taken to a room when they are admitted. Been going on for years.
BTW, I am not a democrat nor a republican. I've been an independent voter for all my life. FWIW, I think BOTH the dems and the repubs are screwed up and the partisan posturing has got to stop. It is taking us in circles. And nothing is getting accomplished.
