Most I've ever had to do with Macs is change the Display preferences from "Extended desktop" to "Mirrored" display.
Some PC's some people bring to campus, I've never gotten to work.
OF course it doesn't help that they usually have about 30 seconds lead time to get their PC, projector, and power cords set up to do the presentation.... and never have their sh!t together in the first place..
