Someone here, I think it was mjkramer, emailed me with a very cute video of the cat belonging to his daughter (katkramer I think), who (the cat, not katkramer!) was a Certified Scorpion Killer™. Unfortunately, that solution probably isn't going to work for you, since you're allergic to the fuzzies.
