Question for my fellow desert-dwellers: scorpions, what do YOU do about them?

Someone here, I think it was mjkramer, emailed me with a very cute video of the cat belonging to his daughter (katkramer I think), who (the cat, not katkramer!) was a Certified Scorpion Killerâ„¢. Unfortunately, that solution probably isn't going to work for you, since you're allergic to the fuzzies. Big Grin

Indeed I sent you the video. Diesel, her cat, would first bite the stinger off and then play with the scorpion until it was dead. It never was stung that I know of.

I live in the Texas Hill Country just outside New Braunfels in the middle of five rocky, wooded acres. We normally have a scorpion in the house from time to time, but with the current severe drought we are seeing a lot of them as they are coming in for water and the insects that they eat. I stepped on one barefoot recently and received a mild sting. Put ice on it and took a Benadryl and it soon stopped hurting. We have a Terminix pest control contract and they say there is no poison that is effective on scorpions, just kill the bugs they feed on and they will go away. They recently put out some sticky traps that have caught a few.
