I don't get this Amazon CD vs. MP3 pricing

I never buy mp3's anymore unless it's from an album that only has one good song on it.

My brain can't quite parse this statement - are you just saying you only buy mp3s of songs that you consider good?

I would say that it is licensing issue. More than Likely, the mp3 are priced according to groupings of albums. The physical is just like any other commodity in the warehouse that can be priced down or up as the algorithms see fit.

Don't ask why just but the CD.

If the album has only one song he likes, then he buys that song as an mp3 and skips the rest. If he like the whole album, he buys CD. Easypeasy.

I would check for any sharp edges first.

Half of these responses don't seem to be allowing for the fact that the CD is less than half the price of the mp3, which was the point of the OP. Canned mp3 responses which don't address the pricing paradox are sort of misplaced.

No kidding. I thought the point of the thread was to illustrate you can get the MP3s and CD combo for less than just the MP3 album.

Thanks to the OP for pointing out the deal.

even if a CD is equal to or slightly more than the MP3s, i'll buy the CD.

i want to rip it MY way, and i want the media. i can sell it later, if i choose; who's gonna buy MP3s from me? nobody, that's who.

Someday there will be a person at the end of that food chain with a CD but no buyers to be found. (Tongue)
