Wireless computer can't see shared printer. WTH?

Like the previous poster, I suspect that you've connected to the wrong wireless network and are seeing your neighbors' printers.

Do you have your laptop set to connect "automatically" or did you manually log in to your wireless network by name/password? Check the network name in the Network Status screen of the Network pref's in your System Preferences and see if it corresponds to the name of your wireless network.

OTOH, if your network isn't encrypted/PW protected, it's also possible that your neighbor has been jumping on YOUR wireless network...

Well... FIRST I'd start printing pages full of the word "Murder" to those other unidenified printers....
Just 'cause I wouldn't be able to resist it...

Or maybe something like "I know what you did" or "I'm coming for you tonight"...

Ahem.. back to the printer problem though.

DO check to see if you ARE on your network, rather than your neighbors.
Might be a good chance to make sure THEY aren't on YOUR network too...

Perhaps reinstall the driver for your printer on the iBook?

Sorry.. I'm having trouble concentrating on the fix over all the wonderful practical joke possibilities of having other peoples printers accessible...

Ok, excellent suggestions.

I went into the iBook and set the network to "automatic." Upon that change, my networked printers were again available to use from the iBook.

This iBook has been recently taken into a local High School that has its own wireless network. Perhaps that caused some internal confusion?

In any event, things are working now. Never would have figured this out without your assistance.

You should really create a new network location specifically for your house and connecting to your wireless network by name. Use "automatic" only when you're away from home.
