We don't have to live like this.
I don't know how we'll ever stop one person. We can fight an army, we can fight a rogue group. Anything that can generate patterns. But a single human? We're all disgruntled about one thing or another. We have to figure out a way to help people to not want to destroy one another.
I agree completely. If I were queen, mental health care would be as easy to get as a Glock is now.
One meaningful and proven way to help is to make it harder to get a gun. This violence is mostly done by young men. A group prone to impulsive acts and raging emotions. That won't change. Gun access we could do something about.
I don't believe we'll ever be able to stop someone from getting a gun. We can make it harder to obtain expensive guns like assault weapons, and other military level weaponry. We have a whole 2nd amendment that allows people to own a gun. The most we can hope for is an assault weapons ban + "common sense" gun control.
Our country is being devastated by a rogue political party thats in the process of what amounts to a constitutional coup. We have to remove them from power. Every single one of them in order to survive. I don't hate them. I will soberly remove them from power like a machine.
Military grade weapons, Assault weapons, already cost $20k+

The previous Assault Weapons ban did make it more difficult to obtain them. It was effective. Janet Reno's Justice Department went extra on enforcement. They can crawl up everybody's anuses if they really want to.
But rank hand guns. No law can pass to stop them from being sold. But that doesn't mean we can't have hurdles. Nobody really "should" object to that.
